Feeding the Future with Food and Music

The children at Engelhard Elementary School in Louisville, Ky., received an extra ‘blessing’ in their backpacks — in addition to their weekly food, they took home the gift of music!

In partnership with the Louisville Orchestra, The Louisville Crashers, and Mom’s Music, school-quality recorders went home in the backpacks of every child. That’s 425 recorders! In addition, Teddy Abrams, conductor of the orchestra, treated the children to a lesson on how to play their new instruments.

“Feeding people takes on many forms, not only a nutritional value, but there’s feeding our souls with art and culture and music,” said Abrams.

“Our friends at Davitt & Hanser in Cincinnati stepped up and helped us arrange to get these recorders as quick as we needed them. For that, we’re excited,” said Howard Gittli, The Louisville Crashers.

Thank you to the Louisville Orchestra, The Louisville Crashers, and Mom’s Music for partnering with us to Feed the Future with music. And thank you to The Unbridled Eve Charitable Foundation for introducing us all — without you, none of this would have happened.
