During Richmond Raceway’s fall race weekend, the track presented Dale Earnhardt Jr. with gifts supporting his commitment to raise awareness of childhood hunger. As part of the gift, Richmond committed to dedicate staff to volunteer on National Blessings in a Backpack Day presented by Cigna. Today, Richmond’s staff united with Mayor Levar Stoney and others in the community to make a difference in the lives of hungry children in Virginia.

“It is our duty as an organization and citizens in our community to support initiatives that make a difference in the lives of those in need,” said Richmond President Dennis Bickmeier. “We support Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s commitment to raise awareness of childhood hunger, so it was a great experience to unite our staff with Mayor Stoney and others for National Blessings in a Backpack Day to have a positive impact on the well-being of children in RVA.”

“We have worked with Blessings in a Backpack for many years and it is awesome that the Richmond Raceway staff went to work in their community to make a difference in those kids’ lives,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr. “These programs really do make a huge impact. It means a lot to me for the track to do this, so I really appreciate it.”

As part of the track’s gift to Dale Earnhardt Jr., Richmond committed to make a philanthropic contribution to support backpacks for hungry children with Blessings in a Backpack. The track also committed to provide 88 backpacks to FeedMore for support throughout the school year.

“It was an honor to join with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Richmond Raceway to fight childhood hunger and make a difference in the lives of our kids, their families and the community at large,” said Mayor Levar M. Stoney. “We all are committed to breaking down barriers to ensure our children have access to nourishing meals. Working together, I know this is a race we can win.”

“We are pleased to continue partnering with Richmond Raceway, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Cigna, in support of childhood hunger,” said Beth Bush, director of athletic partnerships, Blessings in a Backpack. “It is an honor to come together collectively in the spirit of National Blessings in a Backpack Day and their commitment will make a difference in the life of a hungry child.”
