Soap star Chrishell Hartley knows the value of a dollar.

Chrishell“I was homeless a few times in my life and it was really hard growing up, but now I’m super grateful about everything,” she told Page Six via phone on Friday. “I’m still really cheap!”

The actress-turned-realtor laughed while telling us that she still “finds [herself] doing the most ridiculous things” like reusing eye remover pads — much to the surprise of her new husband, “This Is Us” star Justin Hartley.

“I put it back in the thing,” she explained. “I only used half of it! Justin came home from work and went to use one…he asked why there was a dirty one in there! It sounds embarrassing to say out loud, but I didn’t even think twice about it — it does sound gross! I have to reevaluate.”

The 36-year-old also confessed via Twitter that she scrapes lipstick out of tubes when she can — but she’s still trying to solve another luxurious blunder. “I just realized you can’t take a bath bomb out halfway through ‘bombing?’ to use the other half later. It is MESSY. Need to cut it in pieces next time,” she wrote.

The former “All My Children” regular told us that she was homeless “a few times at different ages” with the longest stint being while she was in the seventh grade. She was also homeless for “quite a bit” in the tenth grade.

“As you can imagine, as a high schooler it wasn’t the coolest thing,” she said. “It was just really hard to live the lie at school and make sure no one knows and being really embarrassed about it. Even talking about it now I start to sweat.”

“I definitely relate to any kid who has lived without running water or electricity or having to be the smelly kid going to school because you don’t have the resources,” she said. “It’s hard. I really relate to them and I want to help them as much as possible. It’s a unique situation that you’ll never forget where you came from.”

Now, she works with Blessings in a Backpack and Upward Bound House to help others in similar situations to her upbringing.
