GET FED UP 2026 Raises $123,000 for Southwest Florida Children
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Community leaders, local philanthropists, and dedicated advocates gathered at Scotlynn headquarters on Thursday, Feb. 5, for the third annual GET FED UP presented by Nor-Tech 2026, benefiting Blessings in a Backpack Southwest Florida Chapter.
The highly anticipated evening raised nearly $123,000 to help provide weekend food packs for local children experiencing food insecurity.
Hosted at Scotlynn, the signature event brought together the Southwest Florida Advisory Board, national leadership team, and supporters from across the region for an inspiring night centered on community impact. Guests heard firsthand how the program ensures children have consistent access to kid-friendly, shelf-stable food for the weekend so they can return to school on Monday nourished and ready to learn.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the “Feeding the Future” Award to Jim Jackson, whose dedication to the organization dates back to its earliest days in Southwest Florida. In 2013, as principal of Tice Elementary School, Jackson helped launch the program as the chapter’s pilot school. Rather than viewing it as extra work, he saw students who needed support and stepped forward as an advocate.
The energy of the evening was led once again by emcee Cole Peacock, who returned to the stage after a standout 2025 event. Peacock played a key role in building momentum throughout the night, connecting guests to the heart of the mission and inspiring generous support.
The event also recognized the lasting impact of Scott Fischer, founding board member of Blessings in a Backpack of Southwest Florida. Fischer has supported the chapter’s growth from the beginning, helping expand its reach and deepen its impact for children across the region.
Organizers extended their gratitude to title sponsor Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats, event series sponsor Sysco, and the many additional sponsors whose generosity made the evening possible.
Funds raised through GET FED UP 2026 will directly support the delivery of weekend food packs to children across Southwest Florida, strengthening the organization’s commitment to helping every child experience hunger-free weekends.
