Green Schools ‘Stuff the Bus’ for Blessings in a Backpack

Story via akron.com.

Students in the Green Local Schools district in Ohio recently donated non-perishable food items for the district’s summer distribution of the Blessing in a Backpack program. Items were collected as students brought them onto buses, as well as some items being dropped off by parents. According to district officials, 5,078 items were collected.

Shown above is Bus 14 driver Stacy Kitchen. The students on her bus collected the most food — totaling 1,084 items!

The donations were stored at the district’s transportation office before being loaded onto 10 school buses May 13. Pictured below, the convoy of buses, escorted by Summit County Sheriff Deputies, dropped off the items at the district’s Blessing in a Backpack pantry at Green Intermediate School to be packed for student families in need.
