The team at Sonny’s BBQ headquarters in Winter Park, Florida, recently stepped up to support children facing food insecurity in their community.

In celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Day, the Sonny’s team packed 1,000 Blessings in a Backpack bags to help ensure students have food for the weekend. Of those, 500 bags were delivered to Washington Shores Primary Learning Center and 500 bags to English Estates Elementary School, directly supporting students in the area.

Because of partners like Sonny’s BBQ, children can return to school on Monday nourished and ready to learn.

The generosity extended beyond the packing event. In February, Sonny’s hosted a round-up campaign in which guests were invited to round up their bill while dining in or ordering takeout. The effort raised more than $27,000 to support Blessings in a Backpack programs in Florida and Kentucky.

Through the support of Sonny’s team and the generosity of their customers, more children will have the food they need over the weekend and the opportunity to start the school week ready to succeed.
