September 17, 2015: Blessings in a Backpack Day!

Last year, mayors across the country (in 55 cities and more than 20 states) joined forces, packing bags full of food for children as part of a nationwide effort to combat childhood hunger – the first Blessings in a Backpack Day was a huge success, thanks in large part to the dedication of our program coordinators across the country.

On June 22, the United States Conference of Mayors passed a resolution at its 83rd annual meeting in San Francisco declaring Thursday, September 17, 2015 “Blessings in a Backpack Day” – during which mayors across the country were encouraged to team up with local with local Blessings in a Backpack programs to pack bags full of food for children in their communities who need it most.
