FedEx Delivers Hunger-Free Weekends

Blessings in a Backpack is grateful for its partnership with FedEx.

FedExLast year on National Blessings in a Backpack Day, 30 FedEx employees packed 1,000 bags in Atlanta. Additionally, a wonderful array of school supplies was donated and delivered, along with bags of food, to the Salvation Army Fuqua Boys & Girls Club that will feed 100 students during the 2016–2017 school year.

Atlanta was one of over 90 cities where National Blessings in a Backpack Day activities took place. The U.S. Conference of Mayors declared the third Thursday in September as “Blessings in a Backpack Day” during which mayors and local government officials nationwide join local BIB volunteers in an effort to combat childhood hunger in the U.S.

In October, FedEx also packed bags of food at Groveton Elementary School in Alexandria, VA to feed 50 students each Friday during the 2016-2017 school year.

“FedEx is committed to actively supporting the communities where FedEx team members live and work. We are proud to support the mission of Blessings in a Backpack to help end childhood hunger in the U.S.,” Paula Rutledge, Manager, FedEx Express.
