Waukesha County Chapter Calls For Volunteers to Pack 3,000 Food Bags

The Blessings in a Backpack Waukesha County Chapter is calling for volunteers to help pack 3,000 food bags for local children in need.

Scheduled for Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., this community event will be held at JLL’s Crossroads Corporate Center II in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The bags will be filled with supplemental food before being distributed to children on the last day of school to provide nourishment over the summer.

Blessings in a Backpack serves over 1,150 locations throughout the nation. The Waukesha County chapter was established in 2012, discreetly gives out food bags every Friday during the school year, making it their aim to address the hunger struggles faced by over 15,000 children aged 17 and under in the area.

The organization states that sufficient food has been linked to improved test scores, reading skills, positive behavior, better health, increased school attendance, and an overall sense of community care.
