Blessings in a Backpack attends the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health

Last week Blessings in a Backpack was honored to attend the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. In parallel to the conference, the administration announced a National Strategy that identifies steps the government will take and catalyzes the public and private sectors to address the intersections between food, hunger, nutrition, and health.

The five pillars described below define the scope of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. These pillars help identify actions that all parts of society can take — including the federal government; local, state, territory, and Tribal governments; nonprofit and community groups; private companies; and you.

  • Improve food access and affordability.

  • Integrate nutrition and health.

  • Empower all consumers to make and have access to healthy choices.

  • Support physical activity for all.

  • Enhance nutrition and food security research.

The Blessings in a Backpack team is taking what we learned at the conference and working diligently to develop a plan and the tools necessary to build awareness of the weekend nutrition gap among key government agencies and elected officials. Be on the lookout for ways you can help Blessings elevate our needs and, in turn, feed more kids.

As always, Blessings, family; thank you for your support and loyalty to our mission.
