Convention Attendees Give Back Through Donations, Community Service
Children and schools in San Diego will benefit from the generosity of those attending the Risk Management Society® (RIMS) 2016 Annual Conference & Exhibition at the San Diego Convention Center.
For four hours on Tuesday, April 12, the convention center’s exhibit floor became volunteer headquarters, where attendees donated their free time to stuff bags with food donations to benefit the non-profit “Blessings in a Backpack.”
The community project will provide elementary school children on the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. Volunteers helped reach a goal of 750 backpacks filled with ravioli, cereal, graham crackers, peanut butter and apple juice.
