JASSAC Delta Sigma Theta’s and Shure Music Company Pack 3000 Bags for Harvey Public Schools
The Joliet Area South Suburban Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (JASSAC) has partnered with Blessings in a Backpack since 2016 to provide bags of food to Harvey Public Schools, District 152.
This year, Shure Music Company purchased 3,000 bags and donated them to Blessings in a Backpack. JASSAC packed the bags and delivered them to the district in April. More than 3,000 students from the community were thrilled to be recipients of Blessings in a Backpack this spring, thanks to JASSAC! Additionally, 600 bags were distributed to District 152 students each month.
The chapter has been sponsoring a program in Harvey, Illinois, since 2014. Before the pandemic, the chapter shopped, packed, and distributed food in partnership with the Harvey School district. Since the pandemic, members still gather and put the prepacked food in special bags labeled with the Delta logo.
