Program gives 200 Richmond students 3-years of food

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)- Hundreds of Carver Elementary School students in Richmond went home Friday with a backpack full of food to enjoy over the weekend. The 200 students will receive the package every week for the next three years, thanks to the partnership between the Cigna Foundation and the Blessings in a Backpack program. “Many of the students are impoverished  and some of them economically disadvantaged so they don’t come with all the necessary tools that other students may have,” said Principal Kiwana Yates.
