Zurich Classic Packs Food For New Orleans Kids

The Zurich Classic shows what can go right when we take a team approach — both on and off the golf course.

This year, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is celebrating their 20th anniversary! Since 2011, we’ve partnered with Zurich North America to ensure kids in New Orleans have food on the weekends. Their support has been instrumental in helping us make a difference. Here’s to many more years of working together to provide hunger-free weekends!

“These backpacks provide food for children who qualify for free school lunches but might otherwise go hungry on weekends,” shared Kristof Terryn, CEO of Zurich North America. “Thanks to everyone who worked together to fill those gaps!”

During the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, 1,000 bags of food were packed and distributed to two schools, providing food for kids on the weekends.

Six hundred bags were delivered to Kipp Believe, supporting 200 kids with weekend food. The remaining 400 bags were sent to Educare, where the Blessings in a Backpack program operates year-round, providing food to all 168 kids.

One hundred fifty children from the Blessings program at Educare and KIPP enjoyed an unforgettable day at the golf course, thanks to our partners at the Bayou District Foundation. They had a blast playing games and mini-golf in the Kids Zone, were treated to a delightful lunch, and spent the day watching the golf tournament.

This event was made possible thanks to the support of the Fore Kids Foundation, which funds these Blessings programs, ensuring children in these communities receive consistent and reliable food assistance on the weekends. The Zurich Classic highlighted the importance of addressing food insecurity and demonstrated the positive impact such initiatives can have on our youth. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved, as your support has allowed us to make a significant difference in the lives of these children.
