Peer-to-Peer Fundraising: Everyday Hero

Did you know that 72% of ALL donations to nonprofits in 2016 was donated by individual donors? Per Giving USA’s 2017 report, individual donors were the thrust behind increased philanthropic giving in 2016.

To help your BIB team engage this key donor group in an easy, low-cost way, Blessings in a Backpack has begun working with Everyday Hero, an online platform to help you initiate your own peer-to-peer fundraising activities – individually or as a team.

Peer-to-peer fundraising is a way to leverage your supporters to fundraise on your behalf. It also goes by crowdfundraising, social fundraising, team fundraising, or p2p fundraising. You can ask your friends to donate towards your fundraising goal, and they can also become fundraisers themselves as part of your team. And, you can track your goal or the team’s goal in real-time to motivate others to give.

To help you get started with Everyday Hero, Blessings in a Backpack has created step-by-step instructions on how to create your own Supporter page, ask others to donate to it, and also invite others to join your fundraising team to amplify your results. On the PC Toolkit, you’ll find Everyday Hero how-to instructions and FAQ’s, as well as picture options for your profile picture and social media posts for your use.

This is a new tool for Blessings in a Backpack, and we’ll be adding more resources and ideas on how to do more with it in the coming months. If you have any questions or ideas, please contact Regina Taylor.
