OUR MISSION:

Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends for school-aged children across America who might otherwise go hungry.

Blessings in a Backpack is more than food.

Since becoming a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2008, we’ve helped kids all over the country overcome challenges, thrive in the present, and look towards a brighter future. During the 2021-2022 school year, our reach included:

  • 89,579 children
  • Over 3.1 million hunger-free weekends
  • 1,118 program locations nationwide
  • Programs in 46 states and Washington, D.C.
  • Eight regional chapters
  • 630,222 volunteer hours
  • 11,570 donors

Since 2009, we have provided 29.8 million hunger-free weekends for children nationwide!
